One of our previous blog posts was all about the common myths of manufactured housing. These myths make people believe that they wouldn’t be happy in a manufactured house or that it just isn’t right for them. However, many of these myths are not true. Let’s take a look at some more common manufactured housing myths.
Myth #1: Manufactured Home Communities Are Only For Retired Folks
While there are many communities out there for retired people, not all manufactured housing communities are for older, retired people. There are plenty of manufactured housing communities with younger residents. If you’re wondering about the age demographic of a manufactured housing community, contact them directly to ask.
Myth #2: I Can’t Customize My Own Manufactured Home
When you own a manufactured home, you can customize it to your liking, as long as it meets community standards. Most communities will have set forth rules about what you can and cannot do, so knowing how customizable a home is can be simple. Even if you aren’t allowed to do major renovations, you can always decorate your manufactured home to elevate it to your own style.
Myth #3: Manufactured Homes Aren’t Structurally Strong
Many people assume that manufactured homes are not structurally strong on the inside or outside, but you can put those fears to rest. Not only are manufactured homes incredibly structurally sound, but they are also held to strict quality standards to ensure their stability. The Department of Housing and Urban Development passed the HUD Code in 1976, which helps regulate standards for structurally strong manufactured homes.
